All dental implant patients qualify for our 5-year guarantee by signing up to our NEW Implant Maintenance Plan. This involves attending regular implant maintenance checks and cleaning using our new AIRFLOW system.
“The EMS AIRFLOW system is ideal for gentle cleaning of implants and it’s been shown to deliver exceptional results. I recommend it to all my patients as it’s minimally invasive – which means maximum patient comfort.” – Marc Carbasse, Implant Dentist
Dental Implants in Whitstable
Though they have been widely used for decades, dental implants remain at the cutting edge of dentistry and are a field that is continually innovating. Safe, reliable and predictable, they allow us to recreate the feel and function of natural teeth in cases where, in the past, dentures may have been a patient’s only resort.
Dental implants lie at the heart of what we do here at Carbasse Implant & Dental Centre. Our practice has a heritage of being at the cutting edge of implant dentistry, giving patients in Whitstable access to a high-tech treatment that is carried out by experienced dentists who have studied under world-leading mentors.
Cutting-edge technology
At Carbasse Implant & Dental Centre, we’ve invested in a state-of-the-art setting equipped with the latest implant technology. This includes a CBCT scanner, allowing us to generate a 3D image of your jaw prior to treatment. This enables us to place implants with complete precision and minimal trauma, as well as dramatically reducing the risk of nerve or sinus damage.
A highly experienced team
Our implant dentists are extremely committed to postgraduate training and travel the world attending the conferences that enable them to bring the most up-to-date technologies and techniques back to patients in Whitstable.
Superior function, amazing aesthetics
Dental implants give a result that looks and feels just like natural teeth. You’ll never need to compromise on what you eat or how you speak, and the results can last a lifetime. Plus, because they support your jaw bone, dental implants have the added benefit of preventing the facial sagging that occurs when teeth are missing.
We use leading dental implant brands
Carbasse Implant & Dental Centre predominantly works with the globally renowned Straumann implant system – though we do work with other implant brands too if a case would particularly benefit. We’ll discuss the options in more detail with you during your consultation with us.
Single-tooth replacement
Replacing a single tooth with a dental implant is a straightforward procedure that usually involves minimal invasion or discomfort. Your dental implant will support a bespoke prosthetic tooth that will be created in a dental lab according to your exact specifications, and will look, feel and function just like a natural tooth.
Full arch implants
If you currently wear dentures or are facing the prospect of multiple extractions, full arch implants at Carbasse Implant & Dental Centre can offer the perfect solution. You won’t need to replace every tooth with a dental implant; instead, as few as four dental implants can be placed to support a series of fixed bridges.
Dental Implant FAQs
What exactly is a dental implant?
A dental implant is an artificial tooth root. Made from titanium – which is incredibly strong and well tolerated by the body – dental implants are surgically placed in the jaw bone to mimic the function of a tooth root. Over time, the jaw bone grows around the implant, creating a strong foundation onto which a prosthetic tooth can then be placed.
Can anyone have dental implants?
Almost anyone! Implants are not recommended for anyone whose jaw is still growing, but otherwise there is no upper age limit. Generally, if you enjoy good oral health, it is highly likely you will be suitable for implants. If your teeth and gums aren’t in good enough condition for implants, your dentist will suggest a treatment plan to get you in the best possible dental health before undergoing the procedure.
What does the implant procedure involve?
If you have good oral health, the dental implant procedure is straightforward and minimally invasive. Once a thorough assessment, including CBCT scans, has been undertaken and a treatment plan drawn up, the surgery itself is carried out under local anaesthetic. Once an implant has been placed, you will then need to wait 3-6 months for a process called osseointegration to complete – this is when the bone fuses with the implant. At this point, you’ll be able to return to the dentist to have your custom-made restoration fixed to the implant. Every case is different, however, and your dentist will explain clearly what you can expect from your treatment before you undergo any procedure.
Are dental implants reliable?
Yes. They’ve been widely used for more than 40 years and have always been subject to the strictest quality controls in research, development and manufacturing. At Carbasse Implant & Dental Centre, we only use globally recognised implant brands that have a proven track record. Across the world, dental implants have an extremely high success rate and are generally considered the best method of tooth replacement among the dental community.
What role am I expected to play in looking after my implants?
Maintaining a high standard of oral health is crucial if you want your implants to perform successfully. Following implant surgery, we will give you specific personal instructions on how to care for your implants. If you’ve been referred to us for implants, you’ll return to the care of your general dentist, whom you will need to visit for routine reviews and regular hygiene appointments.
Why are dental implants more expensive than other alternatives?
Successful and predictable implant dentistry requires time, skill and the use of the safest, well-researched materials. From manufacture through to placement, attention to detail is paramount, which is the main reason dental implants are costly. However, the vast majority of implant patients feel that the look, function and longevity of dental implants far outweigh the cost-effectiveness of alternative tooth replacements.
Dental implants are cheaper abroad - why stay in the UK for treatment?
Dental treatment abroad comes with extremely high risks. Firstly, there is no guarantee that your dentist abroad will meet the same high standards we have in the UK, or that the materials used in your procedure will be the tried and tested, globally recognised brands that give reliable results. Secondly, if you have treatment abroad, you won’t receive any aftercare. Dental implants involve major surgery and any complications can be very serious. At Carbasse Implant & Dental Centre, we are available 24/7 following implant surgery, and we continue to monitor your progress for the next five years.
